Transamerica Corp.’s third-quarter profit dropped 26% from last year to $102.4 million. The San Francisco financial services and insurance firm blamed lower earnings in its property and casualty insurance operation because of lower-than-anticipated growth in earned premiums. Its Finance Group earnings rose 43% from a year ago because of the inclusion of results from commercial lending operations.
