Cambridge, Mass.-based Polaroid Corp. confirmed that company officials met over the weekend with hostile suitor Shamrock Holdings Inc. in an unsuccessful effort to resolve legal disputes between the companies. Neither side would elaborate on the discussions. Polaroid Chief Executive I. MacAllister Booth is scheduled to testify today in a Shamrock lawsuit filed in Delaware that seeks to scrap a Polaroid employee stock plan that Shamrock contends was enacted illegally as an anti-takeover shield. Burbank-based Shamrock has offered $2.4 billion to buy the shares in the instant photography firm that it does not already own.
