Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : Coast College Official Named to Interim Post
Gene J. Farrell, acting vice chancellor for human resources in Coast Community College District, has been named to the additional post of interim vice chancellor of business affairs, college officials said.
The community college district governs Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, KOCE-TV and Golden West College in Huntington Beach and Coastline Community College, with headquarters in Fountain Valley.
Farrell will serve in the business affairs post until a permanent vice chancellor is named in late December, campus officials said. The position became vacant when C. Michael Webster left last week to take an administrative job with UC Irvine.
Farrell, who lives in Huntington Beach, has been with Coast Community College District since 1969. Before being named an acting vice chancellor last August, he was dean of administrative services at Orange Coast College.
