A benefit concert starring Bill Medley and local entertainer Lee Ferrell attracted an audience of nearly 1,500 and raised an estimated $17,000 Monday night for athletic and extracurricular activity programs at University High School in Irvine, publicist Karen Lippe said Tuesday. It was the 5th year that pianist-saxophonist Ferrell has staged his “Let the Good Times Roll” rock music revue as a fund-raiser for the school his two sons attended.

The Coconuts duo, Brian Kraft and Kay Renner, who book the comedians at the Dugout Lounge in Anaheim on Friday and Saturday nights, have expanded their operation: As of last week, they’re also booking “about two hours of comedy every Thursday” at Salvatore’s, a family-style restaurant at 500 N. Brookhurst in Anaheim, according to restaurant manger Joe Esposito. “The comedy acts will play the lounge here.”

This week, Stephanie Hodge and Phil Snyder will perform. Shows begin at 8:30 p.m. and there is no cover charge, Esposito said. Information: (714) 776-0500.
