Lazers, After Week Layoff, Play Sockers Today at Forum
The Lazers will try to continue their mastery of the San Diego Sockers today at 1;30 p.m. when they play their home opener at the Forum.
The Lazers have had a week off since defeating the Sockers, 5-2, in the Major Indoor Soccer League season opener for both teams. The Sockers evened their record at 1-1 with a 4-2 victory Friday night over the Kansas City Comets.
The week layoff should help Lazer goalkeeper Jim Gorsek, a former Socker, who was suffering from a badly swollen left hand in the opener.
Although the Sockers won the MISL title last season, they had a tough time against the Lazers, who won the regular-season series, 4-3.
This season, the Lazers have defeated the Sockers three times, twice in exhibition games.
Today, former Lazer Chris Chueden will return to Los Angeles for the first time in a Socker uniform.
