A recent Alaskan trip on Sitmar Cruises’ Fairsea turned out to be a wonderful surprise. There were six of us, so I admit we looked for a bargain. After seeing an advertisement in the Travel Section we decided to book with Sitmar, even though we thought the cruise might be crowded and noisy with lots of children.

Not so! There was a marvelous pizza parlor and the staff and crew were competent and friendly (except for our waiter, who didn’t understand English).

One of the most outstanding features on the ship was its Youth Center. I was invited to a grandmother’s party and was amazed that there were so many children aboard. They were entertained, coached, taught and loved by an incredible group of ladies. The facility even had cribs for babies.

Another feature was one the five-star ships could learn from. On the last morning, instead of jamming and crowding in corridors and rooms, we were entertained with several activities until our call for debarking. There was a quiz with prizes and complimentary bingo. All in all, the cruise truly turned out to be a bargain.
