After a five-year layoff from the lights, bells and whistles, Ann-Margret has returned to the Las Vegas stage, where she made her debut and had her first successes. A week’s worth of SRO performances at Caesars Palace showed her fans in Vegas have missed her, and she said over the weekend that she feels the same way toward her audience. She told Friday’s audience that she missed performing on stage and finally took the advice of her longtime friend and mentor, George Burns, to return to the footlights. Ann-Margret was discovered by Burns in 1960 when she was appearing with a lounge act in Las Vegas. The performer is at Caesars in Vegas through Nov. 21.
