Andrew McBain and Iain Duncan registered their first 3-goal games in the National Hockey League as the Winnipeg Jets extended their winning streak to 4 games with a 7-4 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night at Winnipeg.

The loss left the defending Stanley Cup champions with just a 3-5-1 record within their own Smythe Division.

Thomas Steen also scored as the Jets beat the Oilers for the second time in 5 nights. Winnipeg won, 2-1, in Edmonton last Wednesday.

Craig Simpson scored twice for the Oilers and Charlie Huddy and Keith Acton added single goals.

Goaltender Alain Chevrier made 23 saves to gain his fourth victory for the Jets.

Detroit 5, Boston 4--Steve Yzerman scored on a pass from Paul MacLean with 47 seconds left in overtime to lift the streaking Red Wings over the Bruins at Boston.

It was the seventh consecutive victory for Detroit, their longest streak since 1965.

With time running out on his personal 8-game scoring streak of 10 goals and 9 assists, Yzerman connected for his 19th goal of the season on Detroit’s only shot in overtime.

MacLean, skating down the left wing, escaped defenseman Garry Galley’s grasp to pass to Yzerman. The Detroit captain then fired a 15-footer for his second overtime-winning goal. He did the same against Chicago in October.

The Red Wings, who have won 5 road games in their winning streak, rallied each of the 4 times Boston had taken the lead.

The Bruins outshot Detroit, 36-28, but had their winless streak extended to 6 games.

Philadelphia 7, New Jersey 1--Rick Tocchet scored 3 goals and had 2 assists as the Flyers ended a 6-game losing streak by defeating the Devils at Philadelphia.

Tocchet was playing his second game after a 10-game suspension for a fight with the New York Islanders’ Dean Chynoweth Oct. 27.

Tim Kerr added 2 goals 68 seconds apart to give Philadelphia a 3-1 lead in a first period marred by 76 penalty minutes.

Vancouver 7, Chicago 4--Petri Skriko scored a pair of goals to lead the Canucks over the Blackhawks at Chicago.

Vancouver’s special teams earned 3 power-play goals and a short-hander by Steve Bozek in the first 2 periods.

The Blackhawks managed to trim the lead to 6-3 at the 2:01 mark of the final period on Dave Manson’s 35-footer, but Greg Adams of Vancouver applied the clincher with his 10th goal less than 2 minutes later.
