Protest Against War Toys Is Scheduled for Santa Monica

A public “War Toys Disappearing Act” will be staged in Santa Monica Saturday by Los Angeles Alliance for Survival in support of its international days of protest against war toys Friday and Saturday.

Participants in Saturday’s event will gather at 10 a.m. outside Merlin McFly’s restaurant, 2702 Main St., and march to the playground of the Children’s Place child care center at 235 Hill St., where at 10:30 magician Charles Peters will “transform” guns and other war-related toys into doves of peace.

In its ongoing crusade against toys that condone the concept of violence, the Alliance for Survival exchanges new teddy bears for war toys sent, together with $1 to cover postage, to 13 Sunset Ave., Venice 90291.
