Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : 2 Schools Honored for Academic Programs

Two Huntington Beach schools are among the 1988 Golden Bell winners this year for outstanding academic programs, the California School Boards Assn. announced.

Marina High School, which is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District, won a first place Golden Bell award for its “Political and Legal Training Program,” designed to teach students “to understand, participate in and affect our political and legal system.”

A program entitled “Thinking Lab” at Dyer Middle School in the Huntington Beach City School District won a first place award, the association announced. “Thinking Lab” was described as a program in reading, English and language arts.
