NHL Roundup : Capitals Get 4th Straight Win
Power-play goals by Steve Leach and Geoff Courtnall helped the Washington Capitals score a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders Tuesday night at Uniondale, N.Y.
The Capitals, who won their fourth straight game, took a 3-0 lead, but New York rallied in a 48-second span to close within a goal.
Dave Christian then clinched the win with 63 seconds to play, converting a pass by Tomas Jonsson.
Vancouver 4, Buffalo 2--Rookie Trevor Linden scored 3 goals for the second time in 4 games, finishing off his hat trick at Vancouver by scoring into an empty net with 28 seconds remaining.
Paul Reinhart scored the winning goal midway through the third period, with a shot that went off a Sabre defenseman and through startled goaltender Daren Puppa’s legs.
