Good Aura, Flat LP

** 1/2KARYN WHITE. “Karyn White.” Warner Bros. White--best known for her appearance on fusion keyboardist Jeff Lorber’s 1986 hit “Facts of Love”--has a vocal prowess that should have inspired unlimited, great ideas from L.A. Reid and Babyface, the writer/producers of stylish chart-toppers for the Whispers, Pebbles and Bobby Brown. There’s a prevailing aura of good feeling on White’s debut album, but only two stellar cuts: “The Way You Love Me,” on which White proves that, vocally, she can blow Pebbles right out of the water, and “Love Saw It,” a moody, sophisticated love ballad that teams the L.A.-based singer with Babyface. White’s album is a classy, respectable introduction to the artist, but you can sense that she’s capable of much more.
