Discounts for Europe

Share

If you fly round trip to Europe on one of Pan Am’s non-refundable Eurosaver fares, you can get a free discount booklet with coupons offering up to 50% off the regular price of hotels, rental cars, restaurants and sightseeing attractions.

Eurosaver fare tickets must be bought 21 days before departure, and must be paid for within 48 hours after the reservation is made. Visits must be at least seven days, but no longer than three weeks.

Eurosaver fares to the more than 20 European cities, as well as the discounts, are valid until the end of March, and are subject to the approval of each country’s government.

Pan Am, however, will honor the price of the Eurosaver fare if the ticket already has been bought, according to an airline spokeswoman, and if the saving is not approved.

Car rental companies in the discount booklet include Hertz, Alamo and Kemwel. An example of a good car rental deal would be a three-day Hertz contract for $50 (guaranteed in U.S. dollars), including unlimited mileage and no value-added tax.

Hotel chains in the program include Holiday Inns, Crest, Sofitel, Quality Inns, Trusthouse Forte, Concorde, Cigahotels, Meridien and Sheraton. An example is the 10% off room rates being offered by participating Quality Inns in Great Britain, Ireland, Paris, Rome, West Germany and Switzerland.

Many hotel discounts are based on getting some nights free once you pay the going rate for a minimum number of nights. Often the minimum number of nights at regular rates is four or five. For example, at Crest Hotels in London, you get two nights free when you pay for five consecutive nights at normal rates.

Discounts on city sightseeing tours from 10% to 20% are available in Athens, Budapest, Istanbul, London, Madrid, Nice, Paris, Rome and Vienna.

In addition, discounts of 25% are offered at several London restaurants, cabarets and music halls.
