Allied Signal Aerospace was selected by the Air Force as prime contractor for development of the Mark XV Identification or Foe System. The program, which has been a long delayed effort to improve electronic identification of military aircraft, is potentially worth $4 billion. Allied Signal’s communications division in Baltimore will do the work, which requires about 100 professionals during the development phase and up to 1,000 during manufacturing.
