Five college football players have been invited by the Downtown Athletic Club to attend the announcement Saturday of its Heisman Trophy winner, but two will definitely miss the party.
Barry Sanders of Oklahoma State, the favorite, is in Tokyo, where the Cowboys will play Texas Tech on Sunday. Miami quarterback Steve Walsh will be playing Brigham Young Saturday.
The others invited are quarterbacks Rodney Peete of USC, Troy Aikman of UCLA and Major Harris of West Virginia.
