KCBS-TV Fires Murphy, Schubeck

KCBS-TV Channel 2 fired longtime Los Angeles news anchors John Schubeck and Terry Murphy Friday and is giving relative newcomers Jim Lampley and Bree Walker a more prominent role in the station’s news plans.
Schubeck, an L.A. anchor for the past 17 years, had been anchoring the station’s 11 p.m. newscast with Tritia Toyota. Lampley and Walker, the station’s 5 p.m. anchors for the last two months, will take over at 11 p.m. in January. Lampley will replace Schubeck until then. Toyota will then anchor only the 6 p.m. news. Murphy has been on maternity leave since September.
