* Benefiting from a large tax credit and a gain on the sale of its 89%-owned Continental Graphics unit, Triton Group Ltd. reported a $59-million third-quarter profit.
The profit, which came on sales of $36.2 million, included income totaling $25.5 million from the discontinued Continental Graphics unit as well as a $33.5-million tax-loss, carry-forward credit. Over the quarter, Triton sustained a loss of $52,000 on continuing operations.
Over the same period the year before, Triton reported a profit of $7.4 million on sales of $34.4 million.
For the nine months to date, Triton Group’s profit stands at $62.5 million on sales of $101.1 million, against a profit of $19 million on sales of $102.7 million over the same three quarters during the year previous.
