Local News in Brief : Lawyer Suspended, Put on Probation
- Share via
The state Supreme Court has suspended Los Angeles attorney Donald Boehme from practice for 18 months and ordered him to repay $1,900 misappropriated from a client, it was announced Friday. A State Bar review panel had recommended disbarment.
The court said that in the case of Boehme, who has been a lawyer since 1961, the proposed disbarment was “too harsh for Boehme’s single instance of misconduct during his lengthy period of practice.”
He was found to have deliberately failed to send a client in Thailand the client’s $1,900 share of a settlement in a 1982 automobile accident case and to have misappropriated about $500 from a doctor in the same matter.
In addition to the 18-month suspension, Boehme was placed on five years’ probation.
