Employees of a Studio City bank found a surprise waiting inside for them Friday when they were met by a robber, who police said demanded money, then fled on a motorcycle.
Investigators are not certain how the suspect, who wore a face mask and was armed with an automatic weapon, entered the building before it opened, said Lt. Bob Ruchhoft of the Los Angeles Police Department’s bank robbery unit. “It would appear he had a key,” Ruchhoft said.
The robbery occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 12200 block of Ventura Boulevard, Ruchhoft said.
There were no injuries and it was not immediately known how much money was taken, he said.
Police described the suspect as a white male in his late 30s, about 6 feet tall and wearing a gray suit.
