Local News in Brief : Chippendales Faces Male-Bias Charges

Chippendales, the recently reopened nightclub featuring scantily clad male dancers, is facing discrimination charges for allegedly barring male undercover vice officers posing as patrons, Los Angeles police said.

Officers making a “spot inspection” of the club Friday night were turned away while club officials ushered women patrons inside, Sgt. Chuck Urso said.

Police did not close down the club, but officers and investigators with the state Alcohol Control Board confiscated six contaminated liquor bottles before leaving, he said.

The inspection of the nightclub--which moved from its original Westside location to Myron’s Ballroom in downtown Los Angeles after its fire permit was revoked--also turned up “insects and debris” in bottles of alcohol, Urso said.
