More musical hands across the water in Paris, where American soprano Jessye Norman reportedly will sing the French national anthem, “La Marseillaise,” before President Francois Mitterrand on Bastille Day (July 14) next year--marking the bicentennial of the French Revolution. Norman, who is to appear Saturday in a sold-out performance at the Champs Elysees Theater, is scheduled to meet Thursday with Culture Minister Jack Lang to discuss the performance of the national anthem, various news services are reporting.
