Local News in Brief : Testing Ordered for Neo-Nazi Leader

A neo-Nazi leader convicted of illegally possessing a billy club at a cross-burning in Lake View Terrace was ordered Wednesday to undergo a presentencing psychiatric evaluation in state prison.
The evaluation, which will be conducted at the state prison at Chino, could last up to 90 days.
Superior Court Judge Judith Chirlin ordered Stanley Witek, 54, to surrender to her court Jan. 5 to be taken to the prison. She will formally sentence him after the study is completed.
Witek faces a maximum prison term of three years and six months for his conviction earlier this month on the felony billy club count and a misdemeanor unlawful assembly charge.
The charges stem from a December, 1983, triple cross-burning ceremony outside a home in the Lakeview Terrace section of the San Fernando Valley.
