Local News in Brief : Tustin : Alcohol Test for Bus Driver Negative

Share

Results of a blood-alcohol test administered to a school bus driver arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence were negative, according to police.

Police said they were awaiting results of tests to determine whether the driver was under the influence of some other intoxicant.

Limeo Earley, 25, of Anaheim had just finished dropping off two busloads of elementary school students the afternoon of Dec. 2 when he was stopped by military police on the Marine Corps helicopter base in Tustin. The MPs had received reports that the bus was being driven erratically.

Police said school buses go onto the base to pick up and drop off children who attend schools off the base. There were no students on the bus at the time Earley was stopped.

Earley has been suspended from his job as a driver for Pacific Busing of Los Angeles, a private firm that provides bus services for the Tustin Unified School District, pending results of additional drug tests expected in about 10 days. Earley was released from Orange County Jail on Dec. 2.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles reported that Earley has no record of driving under the influence of intoxicants. A DMV spokesman said Earley’s record showed one speeding violation in 1987 and showed his school and tour bus driving certificate to be in good order and unrestricted.
