Local News in Brief : Marshall Students Win at Mock Trial

For the second year in a row, John Marshall High School in Los Feliz has won the Los Angeles countywide Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the Constitutional Rights Foundation. In the finals, held Thursday night in a courtroom in downtown Los Angeles, would-be prosecutors from Marshall bested a defense team from from Ulysses S. Grant High in Van Nuys.

The hypothetical case involved the sale of drugs and the publication of a newspaper article that allegedly encouraged drug use, said Marshall coach and teacher David Tokofsky. The same case will be argued when Marshall’s squad goes to the state competition in April in Sacramento.
