Mark McLemore, Angel second baseman, underwent successful surgery on his right elbow, the team announced Friday.

The operation, performed by team physician Lewis Yocum at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, disclosed a minor arthritic condition.

“It’s not an injury, it’s a condition,” Angel Manager Mike Port said. “Dr. Yocum tells me it’s not serious, it’s safe for Mark to play and he should be ready by spring training.”

McLemore batted .240 with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 77 games last season. He spent time on the disabled list because of nerve irritation in his right arm and elbow.
