A campaign to recall Board of Supervisors Chairman Harriett M. Wieder has until Tuesday to collect and turn in the required signatures to place the measure on the ballot. Doug Langevin, a Huntington Beach businessman who is heading the anti-Wieder drive, reported recently that the drive was in trouble and that it was unlikely that volunteers would gather the required 20,651 signatures of registered voters by the deadline.
The recall campaign is based on allegations that Wieder is allied with developers and has supported unchecked growth in the county.
