If Rep. Stark believes that the augmented benefits of Medicare are “a hell of a bargain” for the small minority of taxpayers who will bear the tax burden, why not extend the benefits and the cost to all taxpayers (including, of course, Stark)? Then all will get a bargain with no increase in the deficit.
