Authorities in New Bedford, Mass., said they are developing a list of possible suspects in a series of related slayings in the southeastern part of the state. “We have a list of potential suspects,” Dist. Atty. Ronald Pina said. “There are people who are known to do things like this and there are people who are giving us some information.” He spoke at a news conference at the site where the sixth female body was found, in a wooded area near Dartmouth. Investigators have identified three of the bodies as women between the ages of 25 and 36 who had ties to New Bedford’s Weld Square neighborhood, known for prostitution and drug sales. Pina said the sixth woman could not definitely be linked to the others.
