A 30-year-old Sierra Madre man, wanted for allegedly killing his parents after they told authorities about his drug use, surrendered Tuesday to police in Vermont.
Stephen Percell had been sought since Nov. 16, when his 61-year-old parents, John and Doris Percell, were found bound, gagged and shot to death in their home.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Roger Hom said Percell walked into the Burlington, Vt., police station and turned himself in. He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Hom said homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department were en route to Vermont to retrieve Percell, who was charged Nov. 22 with two counts of murder. It was not immediately known what Percell was doing in Vermont.
