Local News in Brief : National Group Plans New Youth Shelter
A national group that helps runaways and homeless youths announced Wednesday that it is planning to open a 100-bed shelter in Hollywood.
Former Treasury Secretary William E. Simon, a board member of Covenant House, told a Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce economic development luncheon that the organization is looking for property in Hollywood for construction or rehabilitation.
“We must build a future that holds out true hope for the kids that are forced to turn to the streets of our cities for survival because they have no other place to turn,” Simon said.
