Local News in Brief : Roessler Pool Study Gets Funding

Share

A committee of Palos Verdes Estates residents, organized last February to investigate possible uses for dilapidated Roessler Pool, has raised $15,000 for architectural studies of the pool.

Committee spokeswoman Deanne Myers told the City Council on Tuesday that the most popular option is to turn the city-owned pool into a year-round multi-use center that would charge membership fees and monthly dues.

This spring, Myers said, the committee will poll residents to see how many potential members would be willing to pay for such a facility.

“Everyone says, ‘Preserve it,’ ” said Councilwoman Ruth Gralow, who serves as council liaison to the committee. “Now we want to know if they’ll put their money where their mouth is. Unless we hear the community say, ‘I want to sign up to be one of the first members,’ we can’t go any further.”
