WASHINGTON — Members of the Electoral College, which includes George Bush’s son Neil and brother Prescott, voted in state capitals across the country today to formally elect Bush as President, fulfilling an antiquated but surviving constitutional ritual.
“It was a nice honor, to get to cast a vote for my dad,” Neil Bush, a Denver oilman, said before performing his duty in Colorado as one of the nation’s 538 electors. “It’ll be nice to be a small footnote in history.” Prescott Bush and seven other electors voted for the Republican ticket in Connecticut. Among the first to vote was Indiana, where all 12 electors cast their votes for Bush and for native son Dan Quayle as vice president.
