The Dodgers will begin defense of their National League pennant April 3 on the road against the Cincinnati Reds in the official 1989 National League opener.

The Dodgers will play their first nine games on the road before playing the Houston Astros in their home opener April 13.

They will play their 81 home games on 81 dates, with no doubleheaders scheduled. They will play 59 night games and 22 day games in Dodger Stadium.

They will conclude the regular season Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 1 at Atlanta.

The exhibition season will begin March 3 against the Kansas City Royals. The Dodgers’ first spring training game at Holman Stadium at Vero Beach, Fla., will be against the New York Mets March 5.

The Dodgers and Angels will meet in the Freeway Series starting Thursday night, March 30, at Dodger Stadium. The teams will play the next Friday and Saturday nights at Anaheim Stadium.
