Local News in Brief : Train Victim Identified as N. Hollywood Man
Authorities identified a 22-year-old man Wednesday who was hit and killed by a train while he walked along railroad tracks in Van Nuys.
The victim was Earl Still of North Hollywood, said Pat Smith of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Detective Mel Arnold of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division said it had not been determined whether the death was a suicide or an accident.
Still was listening to heavy-metal music through earphones attached to a small cassette-player when he was struck by a westbound Amtrak train at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said. He had been walking west along the railroad tracks along Raymer Street near the Van Nuys-North Hollywood border, police said.
