The State : Mother Wants Her Son Back

Share

A teen-age mother who gave her baby up for adoption is trying to reclaim her son after the adoptive parents were shot to death in their bed, just a few feet from the child. Bill and Tasia Stephens, who adopted baby Travis from Tracy Madeiros, 18, were shot to death Dec. 14 in Novato. Two suspects in the killings--Yolanda Segura, 25, and Zohelin Diaz, 25, the couple’s housekeeper and her boyfriend--were arrested at a Daly City motel without incident, although Diaz was carrying a .25-caliber automatic pistol in his waistband, police said. A night clerk at the motel recognized photos of the suspects on TV and tipped police. Segura and Diaz became prime suspects based on evidence found at the home of the couple and at the San Rafael apartment the suspects shared, police said.
