Reserve point guard Scott Skiles briefly quit the struggling Indiana Pacers after telling friends he intended to give up basketball, then abruptly changed his mind.

“I’m disappointed with losing and made a decision based on that,” he said. “Now that I’ve reconsidered, it was a big mistake, and I will rejoin the team tonight (Wednesday) in Atlanta.”

Indiana (5-18) is the only National Basketball Assn. team without a victory on the road this season.
