Prompted by the success of recording artist Tiffany’s 1987 shopping mall tour, MCA has announced another road show, this time a 1989 cross-country tour featuring Hollywood memorabilia, live music acts and interactive displays. The show, “MCA Presents . . . The Magic of Hollywood,” will make three-day stops at malls, amusement parks, county fairs and similar venues in 21 states, beginning with the Glendale Galleria on Jan. 18 and finishing up in Texas in November. The tour will feature exhibits such as the recreation of scenes from “Miami Vice,” memorabilia including the Ruby Slippers worn by Judy Garland in “The Wizard of Oz,” the rocking chair from “Psycho” and Michael J. Fox’s ski vest from “Back to the Future,” and the debuts of two MCA and Motown Records musical groups, Boys Club and the Boys.
