The final defendant in the giant Washington Public Power Supply System securities-fraud trial has settled with class-action plaintiffs for $20 million. The settlement by Blyth Eastman PaineWebber Inc., which had acted as a financial adviser to WPPSS, was confirmed by Blyth Eastman attorney James Hagan. The end of the trial came nearly six years after the first lawsuit was filed in the giant legal action that grew from WPPSS’ default on $2.25 billion in bonds sold to finance two nuclear power plants.
