WORLD : Teens Find $547,000 at Crash Site
Three teen-age boys found an envelope containing $547,000 in travelers checks in the wreckage of the Pan Am air crash.
Stewart and Robbie Dodd, 14 and 13 years old, and their friend Alan Hyslop, 14, discovered the torn brown envelope in a chunk of wreckage near the Dodds’ farm about 6 miles from the crash site in Lockerbie. The Dodd boys’ father, Forster, said the envelope “seemed to be official mail--the package said something like “U.S. Mail Service’ and on it was written how much was inside, $547,000.” Police collected the envelope.
