Local News in Brief : Suspect Charged in Armored Car Holdup
A suspect in holdups of 10 armored cars and three banks in Los Angeles, Riverside and Ventura counties in the past year was formally charged Tuesday with one of the robberies.
Steven Bernard Young, 29, was charged by the district attorney’s office with two counts of second-degree robbery in the $180,000 holdup of an armored car Sept. 16 outside a supermarket on 1st Street.
Young, who remains in custody after his arrest Friday, was scheduled to be arraigned today in Municipal Court. If convicted of the two counts, he could be sentenced to state prison for up to eight years.
