What sort of prize does the Anaheim Visitor and Convention Bureau give away?
Why, more trips to Anaheim, of course.
In celebration of reaching its one-millionth convention delegate for 1988, the city of Anaheim has presented the attendee, Brian Gruber, with a grand prize worth nearly $7,000. The prize includes a certificate toward a future family vacation in Anaheim.
Gruber became the city’s millionth 1988 convention guest on Dec. 8 when he registered for the California Cable Television Assn.
The 1-million mark for 1988 represents the first time Anaheim has reached this attendance record in a single year.
But for the last 6 years, the city has consecutively broken attendance records, according to the Visitor and Convention Bureau. “With over 1 million convention attendees so far this year, $1.3 billion has been generated by convention business in the Anaheim area,” said Bill Snyder, convention bureau president.
The 1988 total convention attendance figure to date is 1,026,728, the bureau said.
