Four Years of Hope
I am a 6-year-old boy. I am writing about Howard Rosenberg’s article on toy commercials (“When Boys Will Be Boys and . . . ,” Dec. 21).
Howard, what does your mum feed you, strained quiche? That article was so wimpy I almost fell off my training wheels laughing. Everybody knows that us boys are smart and strong and tough, so we get the sports gear and war toys. Everybody knows that them girls are dumb and weak and passive, so they get the stuffed animals and other cute junk.
TV adverts are doing the proper thing in showing who should play with what.
Nature dictates that boys should reign supreme because we’re tough and have more atop our necks than pomaded curls and ribbons.
A lot of us boys long for the days when girls were sweet little house mice. Ah well, maybe there is hope yet . . . what with four Republican years ahead.
