Defenders of the Wing

An editorial apology to the Italian government and people is in order. William Wilson’s petulant review of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s “Colpo d’ Ala” (Wing Beat) was in bad taste (“Reflections on an Italian Gift,” Dec. 17). So much for The Times’ international stature.

Mr. Pomodoro does not need Mr. Wilson’s guidance on sculpture, and the people of Los Angeles do not need Mr. Wilson’s guidance on how to enjoy the gift from the Italian people. “Reflections on an Italian gift” should have been a simple thank you or silence.
