NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
Johnny Cash went home from the hospital today two weeks after double-bypass heart surgery and promised to produce a record of Bible readings to thank God for his life.
“I’m going to pay him back for what he gave me,” the country music star told reporters as he left Baptist Hospital with his wife, June Carter Cash. “I can never have another cigarette,” he said as he left Baptist Hospital. “I’m 56 now and I don’t want to have to do this again.”
