Chuck Ashman, one of the country’s first hard-hitting TV and radio personalities, returns to Los Angeles radio this weekend with talk show programs Saturday (3-8 p.m.) and Sunday (2-6 p.m.) on KFI (640). The controversial Ashman, last heard in the L.A. market on KMPC in 1981, once compared his on-air style to “the forearm-shiver-brand of talk” practiced by the late Joe Pyne. “If my guests want to come back on my show, I probably haven’t done my job,” he said in 1981. Ashman hosted “The Ashman File,” an investigative series for KTTV Channel 11 in the 1970s and was heard on KABC radio as well. In recent years, he has worked for the London Broadcasting Company and the Express of London newspaper and wrote his latest book, “The Nazi Hunters.” He has been been filling in for vacationing Geoff Edwards this week on KFI.
