Nancy Reagan, twice the target of criticism over “borrowed” designer clothes, will be honored by the Fashion Designers of America “for the outstanding contributions she has made to American fashion” at a dinner Monday evening in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, her spokeswoman said today.

The fashion industry voted unanimously to give the award to the First Lady, and it will be presented by television interviewer Barbara Walters, according to Mrs. Reagan’s spokeswoman, Elaine Crispen.
