The GTE Classic, a golf tournament for members of the Senior PGA Tour that has been held at Wood Ranch Country Club for the past 2 years, likely will not return this year to the Simi Valley course.

The tournament, held in March each of the past 2 years, will be held in November, a GTE official said Thursday. But the company has not decided where the event will be held, he said.

Robert Levinstein, chairman of the board at Wood Ranch, said that he has not been in contact with GTE officials.

“We don’t know when or where or if they’re holding another seniors golf tournament,” Levinstein said. “We do not currently have it scheduled.”

Kathy Sterling, GTE’s event coordinator, was not available for comment Thursday, according to a secretary at the company’s offices in Simi Valley.

The 1988 GTE Classic was held March 9-13 and attracted more than 55,000 spectators.
