Texas Assistant Resigns Over Charges
Paul Jette, a Texas assistant football coach, resigned Friday after receiving unethical conduct citations from the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. for his involvement in infractions committed at Oklahoma State, officials said.
Jette coached at Oklahoma State from 1979-84 before leaving to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Miami. He joined Texas in 1986 as the Longhorns’ defensive coordinator.
Jette read a brief statement at a news conference that made no mention of the charges, and then declined to comment further.
“This is in the best interests of the University of Texas, and I am doing this out of loyalty and love for this great school,” Jette said.
