A man shot his ex-girlfriend and her brother to death in a south Sacramento apartment, then killed himself, but the woman’s baby girl was unharmed, police said. The assailant was a California Medical Facility correctional officer, the Sacramento Union reported. Coroner’s officials identified him as Donald Shelton Flood, 33, of Fairfield, but would not confirm if he worked at the state prison in Vacaville. Slain were Beverly Janet Cornish, 33, of Sacramento, and Michael Edward Brown, 28, of Rancho Cordova. Police found the woman and two men dead in the apartment. Cornish’s daughter was found uninjured in the apartment and placed in protective custody. Police said they went to the apartment twice after receiving calls of an ex-boyfriend creating a disturbance. Investigators suspect Flood returned with a shotgun, killing Cornish and Brown and then himself.
