Roger Clemens will reject a $6 million offer from the Boston Red Sox, his agent said, but hopes to remain with the team.
“We don’t intend to accept that proposal,” Randy Hendricks said of the $6.3-million offer for 3 years. Clemens, a two-time Cy Young Award winner with 62 victories the last 3 seasons, made $1.35 million in 1988.
Hendricks is believed to be asking $8 million for 3 years. If Clemens does not sign by Jan. 16, he can file for arbitration.
